Co-founder of the Black Mafia Family, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, was released from prison to community confinement.
The story of Demetrius and Terry Flenory became the subject of 50 Cent’s hit show “BMF”. However, behind the show are two brothers from Detroit who created the “Black Mafia Family” and lived the ups and downs. The duo probably couldn’t have predicted how their drug empire would become larger than life.
Reportedly BMF had hundreds of members nationwide and made over $250 million between 1989 and 2005.
Federal agents came knocking in 2005 and Southwest T and Big Meech were arrested and ultimately sentenced to 30 years for drug trafficking and money laundering, allegedly. Southwest T was released from prison in early 2020 due to COVID-19 precautions to protect inmates with health issues.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Big Meech was released from prison to community confinement, likely a halfway house. Meech’s official release date is January 2026 but the transfer is enough for the culture to declare he’s home. The transfer became possible earlier this year after a judge shortened Demetrius’ sentence by three years.
Before anyone plans a celebration they keep in mind Meech will likely stay in community confinement until 2026. Hopefully, he can continue working on “BMF” alongside 50 Cent from the halfway house and begin new projects.
